Is it forbidden and an invasion of privacy for a sister to photograph her sisters while they are unprepared or unaware, and without their knowledge?

Photographic imaging is a matter of contention, and prohibiting it is more cautious to avoid disagreement. The prohibition is further emphasized if it is for women. If any part of her awrah appears, it becomes forbidden. Covering the face is obligatory according to the strongest opinion, especially with the fear of fitnah. If the photography is done without the subject's permission and causes her distress, it is deception and an invasion of privacy. A Muslim must safeguard his brother's absence and honor, in accordance with the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "The believer is a mirror to the believer, and the believer is the brother of the believer; he guards him against ruin and protects him from behind him," and his saying: "There shall be no harm or reciprocating harm." For it to be permissible to reside in Western countries, safety from fitnah and the ability to perform religious rites are required, along with striving to preserve the religion and Islamic identity and avoiding the pitfalls of Western life for children.
