Does the meaning of the noble verse: "Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such [trial] has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until [even their] messenger and those who believed with him said, 'When is the help of Allah?'" mean that entering Paradise requires hardship in this worldly life, and that whoever is not afflicted and dies will not enter Paradise?

Affliction is not a prerequisite for entering Paradise, as some may enter it without being afflicted. However, worldly life is rarely free of afflictions for both the believer and the disbeliever. Allah Almighty created humankind in toil, and the soul is only rectified through affliction, which expiates sins and elevates ranks. Affliction may strike a believer in their self, child, or wealth, until they meet Allah without sin. The most severely afflicted are the Prophets, then the righteous, and when Allah loves a people, He afflicts them. One does not achieve perfection except through affliction, and Paradise is surrounded by hardships. And His (Allah's) saying: "Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such [trial] has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until [even] the Messenger and those who believed with him said, "When is the help of Allah?" Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near." (Quran 2:214) means that attaining high ranks is not achieved except through affliction and enduring it with patience.
