What is the ruling on disconnecting a car's odometer to extend its warranty period?

It is not permissible to disconnect the car’s odometer to extend the warranty period, because it is a form of deception and unlawful appropriation of wealth. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever deceives us is not one of us." And Allah Almighty said: "O you who have believed, do not consume your properties among yourselves by unlawful means except by trade [in which there is] mutual consent among you." A Muslim should not be deceived by the large number of people who do this, because people's collusion in deception does not make the act permissible.
