Is the husband obliged to pay the embezzled amount upon his release from prison, even though he does not possess it and owns a piece of agricultural land, which is all he owns and on which he supports a family, or is it sufficient to give a portion of his legal share from this land to make his earnings lawful and to purify him from this sin?

The husband must sincerely repent for embezzling money, by feeling remorse, seeking forgiveness, and resolving not to return to the sin. He must return the money, even if it necessitates selling his plot of land. If he fulfills the conditions of repentance, Allah will provide him a way out and sustenance from where he does not expect, in accordance with the Almighty’s saying: "And whoever fears Allah – He will make for him a way out And will provide for him from where he does not expect." The wife is advised to help her husband in this regard.
