What are the rulings regarding a woman wearing gold, and is it forbidden?

Jurists have unanimously agreed on the permissibility for women to wear all types of gold and silver jewelry, such as necklaces, chokers, rings, bracelets, anklets, and other customary adornments, as long as it does not reach the point of extravagance or imitation of men. A woman may wear many anklets made of gold, whether a little or a lot, as long as it is customary for her. Some Shafi'is have permitted gold sandals for women, while others have prohibited them due to their extravagance, and because it is not customary for women to adorn themselves with them. Scholars have unanimously agreed on the obligation for a woman to observe mourning (ihdad) during the waiting period (iddah) after a husband's death by refraining from adornments that attract men, including wearing jewelry. It is permissible to lend gold jewelry to women without disagreement. The Shafi'is and Hanbalis have held that renting jewelry is permissible, while the Malikis disliked it, and the Hanafi jurists have no definitive opinion on the matter. The Shafi'is and Hanbalis have held that the endowment (waqf) of jewelry is valid, and the Malikis permitted it, but the Hanafis do not allow the endowment of jewelry.
