It is permissible for the more distant guardian to arrange the marriage if the closer guardian is absent or refuses to do so. If the father's address can be found, contact him so he can assign someone else to the task. If he refuses or cannot be found, then it is necessary to refer the matter to the judge to assign the grandfather or another person the guardianship of the marriage. It was also said that the grandfather may arrange the marriage without referring to the judge if the suitor is competent and acceptable to the girl. Note that some jurists give precedence to the brother over the grandfather in the guardianship of marriage, and a judge's ruling resolves disputes.
