A husband must spend on his wife, even if she is wealthy, unless she forfeits her right to maintenance. The husband may spend on his relatives from his private money without his wife's knowledge, and to the extent he deems appropriate. However, if the spending on relatives conflicts with the spending on the wife, then the wife's spending must be given precedence.
