Is it permissible to break off the recitation of Al-Fatiha due to recurring problems and quarrels, and transgressions that occur during calls between the fiancé and fiancée?
Source: FtawySummarized from the full answer at Ftawy · imported Sep 2, 2026
The suitor is a stranger to his fiancée before the marriage contract, so it is not permissible to speak with her without a valid need, nor to indulge in excessive conversation or look at 'awrahs; this is a reprehensible act. Immediate repentance from these reprehensible acts is obligatory by abstaining, regretting, and resolving not to return to them, and by clarifying this to the girl and urging her to repent and adhere to Allah's boundaries. If the girl repents and initiates adherence to Allah's boundaries, then proceed to marry her whenever you are able, but if her repentance is not evident, we do not advise you to marry her.
