If a worshiper makes a mistake in Al-Fatihah that alters its meaning, they must correct it immediately. If they realize the mistake and correct it, there is nothing upon them, and they are not required to perform the prostration of forgetfulness ( al-sahw). However, if the mistake that alters the meaning is not corrected, then that particular rak'ah must be repeated. If the worshiper intentionally makes a mistake that alters the meaning, the prayer becomes invalid. If they make a grammatical error (laḥn) in Al-Fatihah that distorts its meaning, due to forgetfulness or ignorance, and then correct it, then the prostration of forgetfulness (sujud al-sahw) is prescribed for them.
