Did a verse in the Holy Quran descend in support of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh concerning the killing of the Jews of Medina?

The verse that supports the judgment of Sa'd ibn Mu'adh is the Almighty's saying: "And He brought down those who supported them from the People of the Scripture from their strongholds and cast terror into their hearts. A party you killed and a party you took captive. And He caused you to inherit their land and their homes and their properties and a land which you have not trodden. And Allah is over all things competent." (Al-Ahzab: 26-27).
