What is the ruling on lying to the manager to cover an employee's absence and avoid social harm in the work environment?

The questioner is advised to consider the Prophet's (peace be upon him) hadith: "Whoever seeks Allah's pleasure, even if it displeases people, Allah will suffice him from the burden of people. And whoever seeks people's pleasure, even if it displeases Allah, Allah will entrust him to people." Therefore, the questioner should fear Allah and not lie for the sake of his colleagues. Instead, he should advise them and explain that lying is deception, a breach of work trust, and a failure to fulfill contracts, citing the verse: "O you who have believed, fulfill [your] contracts" (Quran 5:1), and the hadith: "Muslims are bound by their conditions." He should inform them that he will tell the truth if asked, and if any harm befalls someone due to speaking the truth, the one responsible is the traitor of trust, not the questioner.
