What is the ruling on renting out a taxi to a person for a fixed daily or monthly amount agreed upon by both parties?

It is permissible to rent a car or any other animal that the Sharia has permitted to benefit from in a transferable manner. It is also permissible for the renter to use it for purposes similar to its kind, including working as a taxi driver for others. It is permissible to agree on a specific fare that the renter pays to the owner, and the renter works to collect what he desires from the taxi fare. However, one must beware of the forbidden scenario, which is renting out the driver and stipulating the collection of a specific amount, then deducting any shortfall from his salary. This falls under consuming people's wealth unlawfully, and involves deception, gambling, and a void condition.
