What should a person do who has deceived someone online and wishes to repent: should he tell the person the truth, or sever ties with them and seek Allah's forgiveness?

We advise cutting off ties with this man immediately. Speaking with him online is a forbidden act, inciting temptation and arousing desires. You must declare repentance, seek forgiveness, and feel remorse for what has happened. It is not a condition of repentance to confess to this man what occurred; rather, repentance alone suffices. Indeed, confessing to him might be a new cause for a forbidden relationship. We advise all Muslim sisters to abandon private conversations with men, whether online or otherwise, for how much shame and tribulation it has brought them, and exposed them to the punishment of Allah.
