Is it better for the pilgrim who arrives in Mina on the morning of the eighth day to remain there and pray Dhuhr and Asr, or to leave for Tawaf Al-Qudum and return to Mina in the afternoon for an overnight stay?

Tawaf al-Qudum (circumambulation of arrival) is a Sunnah according to the majority of scholars for the mufrid (one performing Hajj only) and the qarin (one performing Hajj and Umrah together) if they enter into ihram for Hajj from outside Mecca. The Malikis, however, hold it to be obligatory. It is recommended to perform it immediately upon entering Mecca. It is not required for residents of Mecca, those performing Umrah, and the mutamatti' (one performing Umrah then Hajj) according to the majority. It is also not required for someone who proceeds directly to Arafat. The Malikis state that it is waived for menstruating women, women in postnatal bleeding, unconscious individuals, and those who forget, if there isn't enough time to perform it. For someone who enters into ihram for Hajj as a mufrid or qarin from outside Mecca and reaches Mina on the morning of the eighth day, the Sunnah is to go to Mecca, perform Tawaf al-Qudum and perform Sa'i for Hajj if desired, then return to Mina.
