A Muslim must avoid obscene language and accustom their tongue to speak good, in compliance with the words of Allah Almighty: "And speak to people good words." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade slander, cursing, indecency, and obscenity, and stated that the harvest of tongues is the cause of people being thrown into the Hellfire. Furthermore, reviling a Muslim is a transgression, and it is forbidden to speak words that harm Muslims, for Allah Almighty says: "And those who harm believing men and believing women for [something] other than what they have earned have certainly borne slander and manifest sin."
