Is it permissible to get engaged to a man who does not pray, given that the girl has vitiligo and it spread after the engagement?

The majority of scholars hold that the defects necessitating disclosure before marriage and establishing the right to annulment are those that impede sexual intercourse, or diseases that are repulsive or contagious. As for vitiligo (al-Bahaq), it does not grant the husband the option of annulment because people are not repulsed by it. Furthermore, if the husband knows about the defect and accepts it, he does not have the right to annulment based on it.

If the suitor does not pray, he is in grave danger. Abandoning prayer out of denial (juhud) expels one from the fold of Islam, and abandoning it out of laziness may be considered by some scholars as disbelief that expels one from the fold of Islam. The suitor has the right to withdraw from the engagement, even without justification.

We advise the questioner to strive in counseling this man. If he becomes righteous and maintains his prayers, then she may accept him; otherwise, no. There is no good in one who is negligent in his prayers. The criterion for accepting a suitor is his condition at the time of the engagement.
