What is the ruling on breaking an oath sworn upon the Qur'an to visit only one doctor, by subsequently visiting more than one, due to necessity?
If you swear not to go to more than one doctor, and then circumstances necessitate that you go to more than one doctor, there is no sin upon you in doing so, but an expiation for breaking an oath (kaffarat yameen) is obligatory upon you.
You should inform the doctor of your need for the medicine and request an increase in dosage from him; do not do that on your own accord.
As for one who swears by the Qur’an, either he intends to swear by what is in it of the words of Allah, in which case it is a binding oath (yameen mun'aqidah) and expiation is due if it is broken, or he intends to swear by the papers, which is an oath by other than Allah and is polytheism () from which one must repent, and no expiation is due if it is broken.
