What is the ruling on a woman covering her feet in the Maliki school of thought, is it obligatory or recommended, and what is the view of the other schools of thought on this issue?

The majority of jurists, including the Malikis, agree that a woman's foot is part of her awrah (private parts) and must be covered in front of non-mahram men. In contrast, Abu Hanifa holds the view that it is permissible to uncover it because it is usually exposed. When there is a disagreement, one must refer back to the Quran and Sunnah. The Sunnah did not guide women to roll up their garments but rather to lengthen them to cover the feet, as in the hadith of Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), in which the Prophet (peace be upon him) permitted women to let down their garments by a cubit so that their feet would not be uncovered. This indicates the obligation to cover the foot.
