The daughter of your paternal uncle's daughter is a stranger to you and to her maternal uncle's son. Therefore, it is not permissible for her to appear before either of you without a hijab (definition), nor is it permissible to shake her hand or be in seclusion with her. Islamic law has warned against being lenient with non-mahram (definition) women, such as the daughter of a paternal uncle or maternal uncle, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Beware of entering upon women," and his saying concerning the in-law: "The in-law is death." This applies to every non-mahram woman whom it is permissible to marry.
