What is the ruling on killing insects like ants and cockroaches with hot water?

It is permissible to kill harmful insects in the best possible manner, but it is not permissible to kill them by fire or hot water, due to the saying of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "No one punishes with fire except the Lord of fire."
