Is a girl's feeling of discomfort and absence of psychological attraction to a suitor — despite their intellectual compatibility and her satisfaction with his religion and character — sufficient reason to reject him, or should she overcome this feeling, especially since she desires marriage and stability?

Legally, a girl is not obligated to accept a suitor who possesses religious devotion and good character. The matter mentioned in the Hadith is in the context of strong recommendation. A girl may seek someone else if she fears she will be unable to live with him, as did the wife of Thabit ibn Qays. It is advised not to reject a proposal merely due to a lack of psychological attraction, for a man of religious devotion and good character is more likely to honor a woman. The girl is advised to perform Istikhara (prayer for guidance) and entrust the matter to Allah.
