What is the ruling on holding a wedding reception in a hall belonging to a church, the proceeds of which go to the church?

It is not permissible for a Muslim to engage in transactions that benefit or aid the church, such as leasing land endowed to it or purchasing property from it. This is because it constitutes assisting in falsehood and polytheism, and Allah has forbidden cooperation in sin and aggression. Ibn Taymiyyah emphasized that the prohibition is more severe if the money spent will be used in disobedience, such as selling juice to someone who will turn it into wine. He pointed out that a Muslim's purchase from the church's assets or what is sold to it is considered an exaltation of their rituals and makes the purchaser a bad Muslim.
