Is the Sheikh's request to see the forms of worship and awrad (litanies) considered a deception from Satan, and what should I do about my feeling of showing off (riyaa')?

The basic principle is for a Muslim to have a hidden good deed between himself and his Lord, for concealing good deeds is more conducive to sincerity and further from ostentation. Allah the Almighty praised His servant Zechariah (peace be upon him) by saying: "When he called upon his Lord a secret calling." Therefore, one should strive to perform supererogatory acts of worship and conceal them as much as possible. If the sheikh intends well, he can be respectfully and eloquently informed of what has been mentioned, for the principle is that a sheikh should refrain from inquiring about his students' deeds and suffice with advice and admonition.
