Is a divorce pronounced by a person suffering from obsessive thoughts and emotional instability, due to his saying to himself, "She will be rid of her problems," considered valid?

The divorce issued by the person does not take effect for two reasons: First, he did not utter the divorce but merely intended it in his mind. Second, if he did utter it and the motivation for that was obsessive whispering (waswasah), then the divorce of one afflicted by waswasah does not take effect. It is advised for anyone afflicted with waswasah regarding divorce not to pay attention to it, and to seek treatment, relying on Allah.
