What is the time it takes for a supplication to be answered, and is there wisdom behind delaying the answer, and should one search for the wisdom behind acts of worship?

A Muslim's supplication is not lost, for Allah is too shy to turn away His servant empty-handed. However, its acceptance has conditions, impediments, and etiquettes. The response to supplication varies: the supplicant may be granted what they asked for immediately, or an equivalent evil may be averted from them, or it may be stored for them in the Hereafter. One should not search for the wisdom behind acts of worship; rather, the duty is to believe and submit to what has been established in revelation. There is no harm in trying to understand the wisdom, which may be explicitly stated or inferred, as this increases tranquility and strengthens certainty.
