"Hizb al-Bahr" and "Hizb al-Nasr" are two formulas of supplication innovated by the Shadhili Sufi order. They are innovated supplications for which there is no evidence from the Prophet's , and they contain formulas for which supplication is not customarily performed in Islamic law. Therefore, a Muslim should suffice with the prophetic supplications and avoid innovated supplications, because acts of worship are based on divine command and adherence [to tradition], not innovation. Innovated supplications may also contain polytheism ().
