The translation of the meanings of the Qur’an is not considered the Qur’an itself, nor does it hold its status. Rather, it is like an exegesis () in Arabic, in terms of bringing the meanings closer. Therefore, it is permissible for disbelievers to touch a translation of the meanings of the Qur’an in a language other than Arabic, and it is permissible for them to touch its exegesis in Arabic. Similarly, it is permissible to gift them such a translation.
