Since fasting is a great act of worship and a pillar of Islam, if strictness means not connecting with kin or not answering calls and the like, then this is not desirable; because a Muslim is commanded to improve his character and show joy in worship. However, if strictness means avoiding forbidden or useless conversations, then this is what is مطلوب (desired), especially during fasting. You must also keep away from acts such as looking at what is not permissible and backbiting, for whoever commits them diminishes their reward.
