How is one to deal with a rebellious wife who speaks with strangers over the phone? Does she inherit? Is she entitled to dispose of her private property in a way that may harm her family’s reputation? What is the ruling on killing her if all other solutions have been exhausted?

It is not permissible to kill a wife or to beat her severely in a way that causes her permanent disfigurement. Rather, her disobedience (nushooz) and her relationships with non-mahram men should be addressed by offering advice, reminding her of Allah, teaching her matters of her religion, and moving her to a righteous environment. If she does not respond after being reformed, she is to be compelled to remain in the house and not go out except in the company of her husband or a mahram. She should be prevented from using communication devices if she uses them unlawfully, while frequently supplicating for her. As for preventing her from disposing of her wealth in permissible matters, that is not allowed; however, she must be prevented from using wealth for evil deeds. It is not permissible to prevent her from her inheritance.
