Is zakat due on invested orphan's money if the profits have not been received for a long time?

Scholars have differed regarding the zakat on the wealth of a child and an insane person. The opinion of the majority is that it is obligatory, and this is the fatwa given. The capital paid for Mudarabah (profit-sharing) is subject to zakat on its principal and its profit at the end of every lunar year. Therefore, the zakat on the child's wealth must be extracted from the profit of the money before its distribution. One should contact the Mudarib (investor) to ascertain the current value of the wealth, and then pay the obligatory zakat.
