What are the father's chances of gaining custody of his four children, aged between 6 and 16, after divorce, given that he does not wish to remarry and wants to have his children with him so they can perform household duties?

It is advised not to rush into divorce, as it is the most detestable of lawful acts in the sight of Allah, and it has negative consequences for the family and children. One must self-reflect, repent, and seek forgiveness when marital disputes arise, as sins affect the marital relationship.

As for custody, the mother has a greater right to custody of her children under the age of seven, provided she does not remarry. Regarding children who have reached the age of seven, and similarly for girls, scholars have differed on their custody. The most sound opinion is to consider the child's best interest; if one parent is better for the child, that parent is given precedence over the other. If a dispute occurs, one must resort to the judiciary to resolve it.
