What is the ruling of the Shari'ah on dealing with a woman who claims to have conceived a child with a man and has threatened to expose him and turn her into a harlot, knowing that she has a bad reputation and resides with people known for immorality?

You must immediately repent of your illicit relationship with the girl, regret what has passed, and resolve not to return to it. The child born of adultery is not related to you and is not attributed to you. Do not succumb to the woman's threats, and beware of killing her, for it is one of the gravest major sins.

For steadfastness, associate with the righteous and join them in seeking knowledge, pray more often in congregation, establish a daily portion of the Qur'an for yourself, maintain regular remembrance of Allah (dhikr), and listen to Islamic tapes.
