Is it permissible, in Sharia, to divorce a wife with whom the marriage contract has been concluded – but with whom consummation has not taken place – and then marry another woman whom the questioner prefers, knowing that the reason for the divorce is intellectual incompatibility and a feeling of uneasiness, and does any sin result from this?
A husband must hold onto his wife. If he dislikes a characteristic in her, he will find another characteristic that pleases him, for there is no woman without flaws. He must turn his thoughts away from any foreign woman who asks him to divorce his wife, because the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No woman should ask for the divorce of her sister to deprive her of what is rightfully hers." So, he must leave that woman and hold onto his wife, be patient with her, overlook her shortcomings, and remember her good qualities.
