Is the absence of feeling remorse after committing sins considered a gradual drawing away [from God] by Allah, and what is the way to stay away from sins?

"Your lack of regret for the sin is an indication of the weakness of your faith and God's disregard for you. For the believer is he whom his good deed pleases and his evil deed grieves, as was reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him."
