What should we do with a father who physically and verbally abuses his children, refuses dialogue, and completely controls their lives, knowing that attempts at advice from relatives and sheikhs have been of no avail?

The default for a father is to be merciful to his children and keen on their well-being. A father's behavior out of anger or harm is a great trial, but he remains the father whose righteousness and benevolent treatment have been enjoined by Islamic law. Therefore, the child must be patient with his father's harm, frequently supplicate for his guidance and righteousness, be diligent in treating him kindly, and beware of harming him in any way.
