What is the ruling on a relationship between a young man and woman that lasted ten years, and he intended to propose, but his family refused because they wish him to marry his orphaned niece?

It is forbidden for a girl to be in a relationship with a man who is a stranger to her, and she must repent from that. If love occurs between the two parties, they must remain chaste until marriage takes place, as it is the best solution for those who are in love. Parents should not force their son to marry someone he does not desire. If he wishes to marry you, he must convince his mother; otherwise, the default is to obey parents unless harm is feared. If marriage is not facilitated, then submit the matter to Allah, for Allah may replace him with someone better.
