Is it permissible to give zakat to a widow who owns cows and wishes to buy a house, and what about the zakat that was given to her?

It is permissible to give zakat (definition) to a woman if she is poor and does not find what suffices her for her basic needs and those she supports. Her possession of cows or her desire to buy a house does not prevent her from receiving zakat as long as these possessions are not sufficient to cover her essential needs. If it becomes clear that she is wealthy, then it is not permissible to give her zakat in the future. As for the zakat previously paid, scholars have differed regarding its sufficiency, and it is more prudent to re-issue it. It is permissible to reclaim the money from her if the giver made it clear that the money was zakat.
