A marketing system where the marketer pays a monthly or annual subscription fee, or a fee upon joining, is not permissible. It is also not permissible to invite others to join it, as it involves both types of usury (usury of excess and usury of delay) and religiously forbidden gharar (excessive uncertainty/risk).
