The marital relationship is based on affection, understanding, and consultation. Allah guided spouses to consult each other even regarding weaning, by mutual consent. How much more so for matters of greater importance? Travel is a significant matter that requires deliberation due to its hardship and costs, and it becomes difficult if it leads to separation. The husband is not religiously obligated to bear the expenses of Hajj, but he is appreciated if he does. The questioner should understand these matters and communicate with her husband. If he does not agree to her visiting her family, it is not permissible for her to resent him or diminish his rights.
