What is the ruling if a brother takes a gift that came to an employee, and the employee is displeased with it because it is considered a bribe?

It is not permissible for an employee to accept a gift that has no reason other than his being an employee. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbade that and considered it a form of embezzlement. It is given because of the official's position and is not desirable like other gifts. Therefore, he must return it to the giver, or, if that is not possible, to the treasury.
