Did Imam Malik dislike fasting the six days of Shawwal for fear of them being added to Ramadan, and was his dislike from the perspective of blocking the means (sadd al-dhara'i')?

Imam Malik disliked fasting the six days of Shawwal after Eid al-Fitr because he had not received any report of the Salaf (early Muslims) fasting them, and out of fear that the common people might believe they were an obligatory part of Ramadan. However, the encouragement to fast the six days of Shawwal has been authentically established through sound Ahadith, so a Muslim should be keen to fast them and encourage others to do so.
