When is marriage obligatory, and is seeking it obligatory, and how is that done?

Marriage is subject to the five legal rulings. It is obligatory if a person is capable of its financial burdens and fears falling into unlawful sexual relations (zina). It is commendable (mandūb) if there is no fear of zina, unless it leads to something unlawful, in which case it becomes forbidden (harām). It is disliked (makrūh) if it leads to the abandonment of a commendable act. Otherwise, it is permissible (mubāḥ). These rulings apply to both men and women. A woman should not refuse marriage if a suitor proposes to her, and she should fast, guard her limbs, and humbly supplicate to Allah to grant her a righteous husband.
