How should one deal with an ungrateful son to his parents, who threatens his mother with murder, challenges his parents, accuses his sister of prostitution, exposes his family's honor, and always quarrels with guests, insults them, and threatens them?

Parents must raise their children well. If a child grows up disobedient, parents must strive to advise and guide him, be patient with him, and pray for him. His siblings and friends should assist them in this. If his corruption increases, he must be forbidden from his evil by all possible means, threatened with beating or actually beaten, or assistance sought from male relatives, or his case reported to the authorities. There should be no leniency with his evil. He must be confronted with advice and guidance, reminded of Allah, and made aware of the rights of others upon him. If he persists in his corruption, his family should disown and abandon him. If he does not desist, the competent authorities should be informed about him, and he should not be left to persist in aggression. Parents should also review their own relationship with Allah, as many afflictions occur due to sins, and this may lead to filial disobedience, as mentioned by Ibn Al-Hajj.
