The answer

God Almighty commanded us to accompany parents in this world with kindness, even if they are polytheists. It is not permissible to supplicate against them; rather, one should supplicate for them for mercy and forgiveness. Disrespecting parents is among the gravest sins, for they have a right to dutifulness no matter what they do. What your father is doing—withholding financial support, mistreating, and harming reputation—is reprehensible, and he must repent to God. We advise you to counsel him and warn him of the consequences of his actions, to be patient with him, to meet his wrongdoing with kindness, to supplicate for his guidance and righteousness, and to seek assistance from someone who has influence over him to advise him. Your mother is permitted to take from his money what suffices her and those whose support is incumbent upon him from among you, without his knowledge.
