What is the ruling on one who dies a virgin?

Some scholars mentioned that one type of martyr is the woman who dies a virgin, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "And the woman who dies by jam' is a martyr." However, Al-Nawawi said: "As for the woman who dies by jam': it is pronounced with a damma on the jim, or a fatha, or a kasra, but the damma is the most common. It is said to be the woman who dies pregnant, gathering her child in her womb. It is also said to be the virgin. The correct view is the first." Attaining the reward of martyrdom has conditions.
