Is what the questioner does correct: washing his body and clothes from the urine spray that landed on them, then sprinkling water on what he suspects has been affected by urine?

The questioner is advised not to open the door to obsessive doubts (waswasah), for it is a widespread evil. One is not required to wash something unless certain that it has been afflicted with impurity. If affliction is certain, then only the afflicted area is washed. If the location of the impurity is difficult to ascertain, then the areas most likely to contain the impurity should be washed. If its location on the garment is unknown, then the entire garment should be washed, as mentioned by Ibn Qudamah. As long as you are not certain of affliction, you are not obligated to wash anything; sprinkling water is sufficient when in doubt.
