Is urine spray impure, and what should be done if urine splashes onto clothing or the body and its location is unknown, and how is it purified if its location is known?

The impure spot on clothing or the body must be washed. If the exact spot cannot be determined, then the entire garment or limb must be washed. As for minor impurities, there is disagreement. The Shafi'is and Malikis believe that a small amount that is difficult to guard against, such as the traces of flies' feet, is excused. The Hanafis differentiate between severe impurity (like urine and blood), where a dirham's worth or less is excused, and light impurity (like the urine of an animal whose meat is eaten), where it is excused as long as it does not reach a quarter of the garment. There is another opinion that does not excuse a small amount of impurity, especially urine and feces, and this is the more probable view, except for what is difficult to guard against, to avoid hardship. Therefore, the area splashed with urine must be washed, or the entire garment or limb if the exact spot is not determined.
