Are clothes that one suspects have been splattered with drops of urine considered najis (impure)? What is the ruling on washing them in a bucket with running water? Does washing impure clothes with other clothes in an electric washing machine purify them? Is urine splatter overlooked?

If you doubt the descent of urine droplets and are not certain, you are not required to wash what you suspect to be impure, because the basic principle is the purity of the place, and this principle is not removed except by certainty. Opening the tap into a bucket or pail is not considered running water, because the water mixes with the water already in it before it flows out, and this differs from running water in rivers. Even if we assume that the water flowing into the bucket takes the ruling of running water, the clothes will not be purified if the water in the bucket is less than two qullatayn, because every stream of water from the tap becomes impure upon contact with the impure water in the bucket. And impure clothes are not purified by the sun or the wind, and urine spray is not pardoned; rather, what it has touched must be purified.
