Is it permissible to wash clothes contaminated with adult impurities (urine, prostatic fluid, menstrual blood) together with pure clothes in the washing machine, or must they be hand-washed first? And does the ruling differ for twin-tub washing machines that do not renew the water?

If impure clothes are placed in a small amount of water (less than two qullas) in a washing machine tub or a container, the water becomes impure, and the clothes remain impure; moreover, all other clothes placed with them also become impure. To purify impure clothes, water must first be poured over them to cleanse them of the impurity before they are placed with other clothes in a small amount of water for cleaning. The water that separates from the impure garment after water has been poured over it falls into three categories: impure if its color changes due to the impurity, or if it does not change but separates before the place becomes pure; and pure if it separates unchanged from the wash that purified the place, and this is the soundest opinion.
