What is the ruling on a husband's oath of triple divorce upon his wife after their son entered the apartment without their knowledge?

Scholars have differed regarding swearing by divorce. The majority of them hold that it is a conditional divorce that takes effect upon breaching the oath, and the husband is bound by what he swore. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and those who agreed with him held that it does not constitute a divorce unless the husband intended it as such; otherwise, he must offer expiation for an oath (kaffarat yamin). The view of the majority is stronger and more cautious, and it is best to refer the matter to scholars or the judiciary.
